Erin & Brian | Biloxi, MS | Mississippi Wedding Photographer

Erin has been a friend of mine now for just a few years but that doesn't make our friendship any less special. We were Tri Delta sisters and neighbors in the ΔΔΔ house at Mississippi State University and I saw her often on campus as she was also an Interior Design major. I believe Erin met Brian her senior year. The Interior Design department usually has nothing to do with the Architecture program (no offense to anyone buuut it's true) unless the teachers made you :) E&B crossed paths a few times during those weeks working long hours on a group project. And according to story she really caught his eye. When I met Brian I knew she had found the one. And I could tell he was truly in love as well as she. And you can see that love today. Especially in these photos. Erin and Brian are perfect for each other. Nuff said ;).

These shoes are so totally and completely Erin. Elegant. I loved em.
And what is a tux without MSU cuff links? You will find out in just a second why this was a big deal for the groom.
Gorgeous custom belt by MOLLYGEEdesigns. The lace flower came from Erin's mother's veil.
E&B opted to have a first look. And I must say I always prefer for my Bride and Groom to do this. Not only does it make for a smoother shooting schedule but it can also serve as an emotional and memorable moment. A chance for you to relieve some stress, forget the jitters that are probably taking over, and spend some one on one time with your soon-to-be husband. A lot of people say it makes the rest of the day seem more calm. And you can use this time to exchange gifts and whisper sweet nothings to each other :)
Lots of peonies, dahlias, hydrangeas and spray roses were used in the bouquets and arrangements. Classic. I especially loved the use of dusty miller. It's one of my favs. And check out the pin used in Brian's boutonniere. It belonged to his great grandfather! :)
It was a Catholic ceremony so you know it was good ;) And I enjoy anything by Father Paddy.
I love this photo of Erin's flower girls!
The reception was held at The Chimneys in Gulfport. It was beautiful! The breeze, the architecture, fine art, food and flowers, all made a spectacular backdrop for Erin & Brian's night of celebration! And it's not a party without Smily & the Young Guns!!
Now I told you you would soon find out the deal with the MSU cuff links. Brian may have attended MSU but he is a Bama fan all. the. way. I really should have included the photo of Erin and her matron of honor and sister, Shannon, posing with the knife. Headed straight towards killing the cake.
I bet these napkins were Brian's idea ;)
Guests sent off the happy couple in a vintage Rolls Royce complete with a marching band and sparklers!

I enjoyed shooting your wedding E&B! And I wish you all the best! :) Hope you had an amazing honeymoon in Europe!!

You Never Know

Yesterday I came across something a little disheartening and very disappointing and I wanted to write about it here while the topic was still hot. I don't care who you are...whether you are a doctor, lawyer, king or queen, president, business owner, sales person or perhaps a photographer, you should always treat people with the respect and dignity they deserve...ESPECIALLY if they have invested their hard earned money and precious time in learning from YOU.

I came across a couple of blog posts giving reviews on a certain photography workshop they had attended a few months back... what I read made me very angry. Angry at the way these students were treated and angry that these photographers who I once admired so much would do people this way. I was so disappointed in these photographers; I felt like I just found out I had been cheated on. I loved everything about them. I wanted to be just like them. And what really pisses me off, is that they are SO GOOD. I will still be in awe of their work but there is no way in hell I will be promoting them anymore through my facebook page or blog. This will be exactly what you call a love/hate relationship. But it just goes to show you can't always judge a book by it's cover and you most definitely need to do your research before investing so much money into something that is SUPPOSED to be a learning experience, not a degrading one.

So with all that being said I want to take this moment to tell you that no matter how big and famous I may OR may not get, I will NEVER treat you like this. EVER. I actually have plans of my own to teach a workshop this summer and I couldn't imagine acting this way, much less taking your money in the process. What a total disgrace.

And just so that everyone out there can be warned, because I too was seriously considering going to one of these workshops (they can forget it now) you can read the blog reviews on the workshop here and here.

Mallory & Brandon | Brandon, MS | Brandon, MS Wedding Photographer

We first met Mallory & Brandon here. I enjoyed shooting their engagement pictures but even more so their Big Day! Everything was perfect. The weather we weren't too sure of but in the end it behaved well...it may have been a little chilly but I think everyone had a great time nonetheless!

I don't think Mallory & Brandon could have chosen a better venue. Luckett Lodge is picturesque and everything you could imagine and more for a gorgeous wedding! With the help of her wedding planner, Mallory's vision came to life and every little detail was amazing. I especially loved the florals with tons and tons of succulents! And the seeds and corn kernels used as fillers in some of the arrangements added that personal touch :) but it doesn't end there! The groomsmen looked very handsome in their suits and ties and the bridesmaids couldn't have been more stunning! And Mallory & Brandon didn't look half bad either! In fact I might have to put one of their portraits on my studio wall ;))

Mallory & Brandon were married in a quaint chapel on the grounds of Luckett Lodge surrounded by family and friends. It was a beautiful ceremony. Everything a wedding should be. After the I Do's everyone moved a hop-skip-and-a-jump-away to the reception area under tents and surrounded by candles and tiki torches. The food was great, the cake DE-licious, the band was jumpin' and the company even better.

Congratulations again, Mr. & Mrs. Abney! I am so honored to have been able to capture your story and look forward to more photo opportunities in the future!!
